Charles
James Keates British
19th century artist, flourished 1880-1940. Painter
of towns, cities and street scenes throughout Europe. He visited France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Holland and
Venice. In the towns and cities which he painted the public squares are a clear favourite of his and he selected the nobler buildings such as the town halls and churches, which he depicted with a richness of colouring and wonderful delicate pencilling, bringing together movement and life from a bygone age. |
