Christian Neswadba

Christian Neswadba was born in 1977 in Vienna. His father, the celebrated landscape artist Gerhard Neswadba, was his first tutor. The boy’s gift was recognized early in school and consequently he transferred to one that specialized in drawing and engineering. These fields were too rigid and technical for this emerging artist. Christian was discovering his own voice, after years of absorbing his father’s knowledge.

His first major award was the prestigious SalzBurger Kulturfonds Prize, earned in 1997 when the artist was just twenty years old. Two one-man shows in Salzberg and Linz followed in 1998. Christian Neswadba was featured in a one-man exhibition in Vienna in 1999, and his U.S.A. debut was at the New York Art Expo 2000.

Christian Neswadba travels extensively to photograph flowers. He strives to capture the light beaming off of the petals and the shadows emerging beneath the leaves. He uses these photos as tools to springboard into his own expressionistic world.
