David
Player
David
Player was born during the dark days of the war and bombed out of his home in
Surrey, came to the Midlands as an infant where he attended Edgbaston
Preparatory School and later Wrekin College in Shropshire, where he came under
the influence of the art master who, awarding him the Art Cup almost every year,
recognised that his talent indicated a career in art.
The
stern necessities of life however caused him first to obtain his professional
qualifications as a Chartered Surveyor. He then spent some years as a Project
Manager designing residential developments on the Continent and later, returning
to England, designed and built individual properties in and around the South
Midlands.
His
latent desire to paint was re-awakened when given some oil paints to occupy him
whilst recuperating from a skiing injury.
The
demand for his work soon became apparent and since then there have been very few
forays into the commercial world as his time has been devoted to catching up on
the variety of subjects that have been waiting more than twenty years to be
painted.
He
is married with two teenage daughters and still lives in the West Midlands.
