Domingo Domingo
was born in Barcelona in 1946. Having
completed his studies in 1966 he spent several years illustrating numerous books
and other publications, and in 1971 was offered a job as sub-editor for an art
magazine in Madrid. Whilst
living in Madrid he explored the techniques of pastel painting and was very
successful in selling his work to galleries in and around the City. During
this same time he began to develop an authoritative style and composition in the
use of pastels, using a toned paper as an integral part of the background to his
subject. His work was quickly
recognised as being of exceptional quality and talent.
His new job gave him the opportunity to travel in Spain and Southern
France and he was able to sell his paintings with regularity, and with this
continued success in 1975 he resigned from the magazine and became fully
professional. |
