Ingrid Bee
"Each Canvas is
handmade in every aspect. I will often plan out the initial design in my
sketchbook. I then manipulate and distress the pieces of canvas before
overstitching them with freehand embroidery. I use thick threads, silks and
yarns to create depth and extra definition. When I feel that I have applied
enough detail and have achieved the final effect, I will begin to stitch the
individual pieces of canvas together and hand stretch the final pieces of canvas
over a wooden stretcher.
Once the canvas is completely stretched, I begin to re-create new textures and
reliefs onto the canvas using various moulding materials and pastes – this also
defines the holes created by the embroidery. The final stage is the application
of paint, which I will build up in numerous layers."
Ingrid’s work is available in a large variety of sizes and stunning colour
combinations.
