Lion Arie Feijen

Lion Feijen was born on April 1st 1947. He is the son of the artist Leo Feijen who taught him the basic principles and technique of paintings which he has so successfully mastered.

In 1966 he started to work as a professional artist painting mainly in the style of the 17th century Dutch Masters, He made study tours to Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Sweden and Norway constantly searching for inspiration and locking images into his memory to be reflected in his work.

Through press and television coverage Feijen is known to a broad public and his paintings are in important private collections in many different countries. He has gained recognition from art critics and the public alike for the way his paintings are executed in very fine detail and is acknowledged by many to be perhaps the greatest living Dutch painter.

Feijen's brother, Pieter Cornelis Steenhouwer is also an internationally known artist.
