Maykel
Herrera is recognised in the artistic circles of Cuba and the Americas as
being a truly prolific artist whose work carries much accolade and
admiration.
Maykel Herrera was born in
Camagüey, Cuba in 1979, He graduated from the Professional School of Arts in
Camagüey where he studied from 1993-98. Maykel is celebrated as one of the
best living artists in Cuba. His work can be found in many collections
around the world and his many awards, publication, exhibitions and
illustrations bear testament to his artistic ability and the recognition he
carries in the informed artistic communities of the Americas.
Maykel was nominated to represent
Cuba in the 10 World Artists Show 2007-2008.
Herrera's paintings can be seen in
Museo Provincial General Ignacio Agramonte in Camagüey which is one of the
most important art museums in Cuba.
It is a multi-purpose museum that
houses collections ranging from archaeological items to the fine arts. The
museum's holdings also include a natural history collection that feature the
flora and fauna of Cuba. The majority of items in this museum, however,
centre on the fine arts, focusing on local and regional pieces ranging from
the early 19th century to modern works. It is a very important achievement
for somebody at such a young age.

Cuba.
