Robert Heindel

Robert Heindel enjoys the unqualified access he has earned to the rehearsal studios of the world's leading dance and ballet companies. For over a decade now he has been inspired to use both dance and dancers throughout his work. Obvious is his mastery at capturing the body in motion or repose. Of equal. indeed greater, significance is his achievement in lacing the works with his own feelings and thoughts, all of his personal hopes and fears, loves and desires are subtly realised.

In recent years he has accepted invitations from, and accordingly worked with, The Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Monte Carlo Ballet and The Scottish Ballet. Resultant collections of sketches and paintings have enjoyed high profile international exhibitions. This in turn has led the artist to the occasional 'detour' into the world of theatre, once again by request. He worked with the original casts of both The Phantom of the Opera (London) & CATS (London) in 1987 and more recently has been captivated by his observations of Noh Theatre (Tokyo).
