Ron Moseley

Ron Moseley was born in Marple, Cheshire in 1931. After general education Ron attended Manchester School of Art. As a young man his leisure time obsession was mountaineering, mainly in the Lake District, where he became familiar with all the peaks in all the seasons. He also climbed many of the Scottish Mountains as well as the European Alps.

On completion of his two years national service (most of which was spent painting portraits of officer’s wives and children), he left the UK for Canada where the Rocky Mountains were the inspiration for both his climbing and painting. His work became sought after by many international companies.

He then spent eleven years in South Africa where Table Mountain, the African people and wildlife were the subjects for his paintings, many of which were commissioned for the World Wildlife Foundation.

Since returning to the UK he has become well known for his paintings of English rural life, and since settling in the North of England this truly international artist has turned his attention again to the Lake District and Scotland, where he can often be seen walking, although sadly his climbing days are over.
