Warwick Higgs
Born in London, Warwick left college at the age of 21 to become a full-time painter. Being a keen naturalist, animals and birds provided the main inspiration for his paintings. His first one-man exhibition was in London in 1976 and he then made many trips to the US, where he found considerable interest in his work. Increasing success enabled him to support his chosen charities: "I am constantly aware of how fortunate I am. I love the wildlife I paint and if I bring pleasure to those who view my paintings, then I feel I have succeeded in my work". Warwick lives and works in Surrey. He has completed numerous commissions for the advertising industry, charities, corporations and publishers and his work is included in collections in Europe, Japan and USA. In 1996 and 1999 Warwick was nominated as a finalist in The Fine Art Trade Guild Awards and in 1997 he won the Best Up and Coming Artist Award. He has twice been voted
a finalist in the Fine Art Trade Guilds Awards and won the Best Up & Coming
Artist Award in 1997. In addition,
his image 'The Owl and the Pussycat' won the 'Gift of the Year Award' in 1997.
